What to check if images are missing from an export, or if Word formatting looks different than expected.

An image is missing from my exported document

Check the image’s usage in your asset library. If it was archived after being inserted into a chapter, it may no longer be available to embed. Re-uploading and re-inserting the image resolves this.

The formatting in Word doesn’t match the editor

Some difference is expected. Word renders bold, italics, headings, and lists using its own document format rather than the editor’s. If entire sections are missing or wildly different, confirm your paragraph style preference is set the way you expect, since it directly controls whether exported paragraphs use spacing or manuscript-style indentation.

My export is taking a long time or seems stuck

Larger manuscripts with a lot of embedded images take longer to export than a short, text-only draft, so give it a little more time before assuming something’s wrong. If it’s been several minutes with no result, try again; if it still doesn’t complete, that’s worth reporting directly.
