Reordering and color-coding beats

Drag a beat to a new spot in the same column, or move it into another column entirely, and use color to track anything a title can't.

The Plot Board is built around dragging things until they feel right. There’s no “correct” order to commit to before you start moving cards around.

Reordering beats

Drag any beat up or down within its column to change its order, or drag it into a different column entirely if it belongs to a different act, chapter, or theme. Nothing about the beat’s content changes, only its position.

Editing a beat

Select a beat to edit its title or synopsis in place, without leaving the board.

Color-coding

Give a beat a color from its color picker to track anything a title alone can’t: a subplot, a point-of-view character, tension level, whatever grouping is useful for how you think about your story. Colors are purely visual; they don’t change how beats behave.
