Organizing chapters, sections, and scenes

Build your manuscript as a tree of folders, chapters, and scenes. Drag to reorder, nest freely, and see word counts at every level.

Your manuscript in Endra Studio isn’t a single long document. It’s a tree. Chapters can hold sections, sections can hold scenes, and you can nest as deep as your structure needs.

Adding a chapter, section, or scene

From the Manuscripts panel in the sidebar, select the + button to add a new item at the top level, or hover over an existing item and add a child inside it. Each new item starts empty and opens straight into the editor.

Reordering and nesting

Drag any chapter, section, or scene to move it:

• Drop it before or after a sibling to reorder at the same level.
• Drop it onto another item to nest it inside as a child.

There’s no limit on nesting depth. Some writers keep it simple with just chapters and scenes; others nest parts, chapters, and scenes three levels deep. Structure it however matches how you think about your book.

Word counts at every level

Each item in the tree shows its own word count, and folders and chapters show the combined count of everything nested inside them. That means you can see your whole manuscript’s length at a glance, or drill into a single chapter to see how it’s paced.
