The Studio tour

A quick tour of the sidebar, project home, and breadcrumbs so you always know where you are in your project.

Once you’re inside a project, everything is reachable from the sidebar on the left.

The sidebar

From top to bottom, the sidebar gives you:

• Project Home: an overview of the project, including its title, synopsis, word counts by document, collaborators, and your writing activity.
• Manuscripts: your chapters, sections, and scenes, organized as a tree you can expand, collapse, and reorder.
• Plot: the Plot Board, for mapping your story across columns and beats.
• Characters: a gallery of every character in the project.
• Notes: your standalone research notebook.
• Archive: anything you’ve deleted, kept around in case you need it back.

Project home

Project home is where you land when you open a project. It shows a synopsis and settings for the project itself, a word-count breakdown across your documents, your collaborators, and an activity heatmap of your recent writing sessions.

Breadcrumbs

Inside a chapter, section, or scene, a breadcrumb trail above the editor shows exactly where that piece of content sits in your manuscript tree. It’s useful once a project has more than a few chapters and you want to jump back up a level without losing your place.
